Alan J. Franklin, M.D., Ph.D

Dr. Franklin comes from a medical family. Becoming a doctor was in his genes. However, he also was interested in laboratory science. In ways, he's accomplished both, completing medical school and earning his Ph.D. in molecular physiology and biophysics after completing medical school. What made Dr. Franklin realize that he was truly a physician, however, was learning to care for patients.

After all, practicing medicine is leveraging science to benefit people and to improve their lives. Dr. Franklin loves nothing more than helping patients who face complicated retina problems. Dr. Franklin complements his scientific approach to medicine with a genuine human touch. His patients describe him as friendly, compassionate and respectful. And, they'll go to lengths to keep him as their doctor, with some driving from as far away as Tennessee.

Dr. Franklin has completed a tremendous amount of research regarding diabetes and is an ardent supporter of ongoing education and clinical trials. He is committed to remaining ethical, approachable and well versed in retina for the benefit of patients. His accomplishments and experiences include but are not limited to:
