Wright Lauten, M.D.
Originally from Mobile, Alabama, Dr. Wright Lauten sought to pursue a degree in economics at Vanderbilt, but soon realized that his true calling in life was to help people get better. Hailing from a long line of physicians — four generations to be exact — he knew that the power of healing ran in his blood.
Fueling his passion within his practice, Dr. Lauten found inspiration in his three grandparents, all of whom have suffered from macular degeneration — two legally blind from its effects. This close bond with family and strong desire to help others were the driving force behind pursuing ophthal- mology, and later vitreoretinal surgery.
When it comes to treating his patients with care and respect, Dr. Lauten simply can't help himself. He is devoted to helping and caring for people. An avid researcher, he contributes to the wealth of knowledge at national and international conferences for his findings with patients suffering from diabetes and macular degeneration. He embraces the idea of delivering visionary retina care to his patients.
Dr. Lauten's passion for his practice stems from a commitment to compassionate care and contributions to medical science. He trained in one of the highest surgical volume facilities in the nation and has completed numerous amounts of research into the relationship between retina diseases and type 2 diabetes. Additionally, he has presented at national and international conferences for his findings and ardently believes that new developments in technology can open doors to improving patients' quality of life.
