Sean Allison, MD

Dr. Sean Christian Allison is a second-generation ophthalmologist and third-generation physician who brings more than fifteen years of experience in medical and surgical retina care. Born and raised in Alabama, he is honored to serve patients along the Gulf Coast with compassionate, individualized, and state-of-the-art treatment.

Dr. Allison earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Alabama before completing his medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. He went on to complete his internship at Baptist Health Systems in Birmingham. He then trained at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where he completed his Ophthalmology residency and served as Chief Resident. He remained at UT-Houston to pursue a two-year fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery and has been in retina practice since 2008.

Board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Allison is dedicated to providing the highest level of retina care close to home.

A strong believer in community-focused care, Dr. Allison and his wife, Dr. Ashley Allison—a dermatopathologist—moved to the Eastern Shore in 2014 to raise their children, Ciara and Thomas.
